Approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta city or 50 km southwest of Solo City. The original name of this site is still unclear, however the local inhabitants named this site after King Boko, the legendary king mentioned in Loro Jonggrang folklore. In JavaneseRatu Boko means "Stork King".

Ratu Boko is famous as the best place to enjoy sunset in Jogja. Its location in the hills allows you to see the sunset from this temple. From Ratu Boko you can see the landscape of some city of Jogja.Lingkungan around Ratu Boko also very beautiful and natural.

Actually, Ratu Boko's palace is a relic of archaeological site that is different from other sites. Many people think that Ratu Boko Palace is just a temple like Prambanan and Borobudur. In fact, Ratu Boko is a former palace complex consisting of several parts of the building.

The first door is made of andesite rock, but the floor and the wall of the stairs are made of fine white limestone. Because built with andhesit stone construction then Ratu Boko temple is actually more similar to the palace.
Another feature of this site is the place to the left of the gate where there is a spot called Candi Pembakaran. This burning temple is where the Hindu people are cremated.
In this place you not only can enjoy a beautiful sunset only. In this place also you can see Prambanan temple. In addition to Prambanan temple, you can also see the magnificent and beautiful view of Mount Merapi and Merbabu. Half of the city of Yogyakarta also clearly visible this place.
