Ratu Boko Temple



Ratu Boko is an archaeological site known to modern Javanese as Kraton Ratu Boko or Ratu Boko's Palace. Ratu Boko is located on a plateau, about three kilometres south of Lara Jonggrang Prambanan temple complex in YogyakartaIndonesia. Precisely in the district Bokoharjo, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta. Approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta city or 50 km southwest of Solo City.The original name of this site is still unclear, however the local inhabitants named this site after King Boko, the legendary king mentioned in Loro Jonggrang folklore. In JavaneseRatu Boko means "Stork King".
Archaeological site Ratu Boko Jogja itself occupies an area of 25 hectares and is at an altitude of about 196 meters from sea level. Entrance Ticket Ratu Boko Yogyakarta itself is Rp25.000 including parking. But the price is only until 3 o'clock in the afternoon only.


The admission price of Candi Boko Yogyakarta after three o'clock in the afternoon is the ticket category to enjoy the sunset. The price is much more expensive than the previous one. Ticket price for Ratu Boko Sunset Temple package is Rp 100.000.
For the opening hours of Ratu Boko temple is at 06.00. The closing hours of Ratu Boko Temple is at 5 pm. After paying the entrance ticket you will be confronted on 2 doors in Paduraksa with a Ratna-shaped roof that functions as the main entrance.

Ratu Boko not only have main temple, but Ratu Boko has several sites, there are main gate, Batu Putih temple, Pembakaran temple, Paseban, Pendopo, Miniature temples, Kaputren and bathing place, and Ascetic Cave.

Ratu Boko is famous as the best place to enjoy sunset in Jogja. Its location in the hills allows you to see the sunset from this temple. From Ratu Boko you can see the landscape of some city of Jogja.Lingkungan around Ratu Boko also very beautiful and natural.

Actually, Ratu Boko's palace is a relic of archaeological site that is different from other sites. Many people think that Ratu Boko Palace is just a temple like Prambanan and Borobudur. In fact, Ratu Boko is a former palace complex consisting of several parts of the building.

The first door is made of andesite rock, but the floor and the wall of the stairs are made of fine white limestone. Because built with andhesit stone construction then Ratu Boko temple is actually more similar to the palace.
Another feature of this site is the place to the left of the gate where there is a spot called Candi Pembakaran. This burning temple is where the Hindu people are cremated.
In this place you not only can enjoy a beautiful sunset only. In this place also you can see Prambanan temple. In addition to Prambanan temple, you can also see the magnificent and beautiful view of Mount Merapi and Merbabu. Half of the city of Yogyakarta also clearly visible this place.
